By the way, I'm going to suggest for the Dream Oath Opera, you grab the official official translation (FF6A's is close, but not quite exact). The official official translation is as follows:

Quote:Draco

Oh, Maria
Oh, Maria
Though I call you from afar,
Will this message reach your heart?
Oh, how I long to be with you!

Maria

Oh, my hero!
My beloved!
Shall we still be made to part?
Though promises of perennial love
Yet sing here in my heart

I'm the darkness you're the starlight
Shining brightly from afar
Through hours of despair, I offer this prayer
To you my evening star

Must my final vows exchanged
be with him and not with you
Were you only here to quiet my fear
Oh, speak! Guide me anew!

Draco

Maria!

Maria

Draco! I knew you would return to me, my love!

Ralse

Insolent rogue! Knave of the Western Horde!
Would you address my Queen-to-be, Maria?

Draco

Never shall you have Maria's Hand!
I would die before that day comes!

Ralse

Then we duel!

Just for comparison's sake, here's FF6A's version:

Quote:Draco

Oh Maria!
Oh Maria!
My beloved, do you hear
My words whispered in you ear
As if I were by your side?

Maria

O my hero, my beloved,
Shall we still be made to part,
Though promises of perennial love
Yet sing here in my heart?

I'm the darkness, you're the starlight
Shining brightly from afar.
Through hours of despair, I offer this prayer
To you, my evening star.

Must my final vows exchanged
Be with him and not with you?
Were you only here To quiet my fear...
O speak! Guide me anew.

I am thankful, my beloved,
For your tenderness and grace.
I see in your eyes,
So gentle and wise,
All doubts and fears erased!

Though the hours take no notice
Of what fate might have in store,
Our love, come what may,
Will never age a day.
I'll wait forevermore!

Draco

Maria!

Maria

Oh, Draco!
I knew you would
Come for me, my love!

Ralse

Insolent rogue!
Knave of the Western Horde!
You would address my queen to be, Maria?

Draco

Never shall you have Maria's hand!
I would die before that day comes!

Ralse

Then it's a duel!

The primary differences are in Draco and Ralse's lines; Maria's lines in FF6A are pretty much identical to the official official version (well, except that since Locke doesn't fall onto Ultros and the opera isn't trashed in the official official version, the second half of Aria was moved to the end of the opera). I just think the official official translation, which was made for a live performance, tends to sound much smoother overall (since the lines were made to match the song beats better).

Actually, I was planning on looking into getting this scene to sync up properly in FF3 myself, as a sort of loose "fixed up version" I was working on. If you're interested, I'll post my final work with all the pauses and note symbols intact.

That would be great! Sure, I'll take what I can get, though, are you using the GBA font patch?

I wasn't going to originally, but I think I'll make two versions to match the two different font styles.

Good luck on this! While inserting the GBA script in my ROM, I got fed up and just skipped the entire opera until I had more patience to do it. I am very much looking forward to this Smile

Though, PJM, are you still going help me with assigning dialogue to the NPCs? I'm still not sure who goes to who.

I have about 700 more captions to finish, and then all 3 dialogue scripts will be completed... minus the opera.

I got burned out doing so many in a short amount of time, but I am ready to finish what I started now after having a nice break.

I can't remember if we discussed this before or not, but the only problem I can see is that my script will overwrite everything you have done so far with the GBA script. I'd say the best option you have is to make a note (if you haven't already) of what lines you changed, then import my script, and make the changes again.

If I don't have the script ready by the middle of next week, give me an eKick Smile

Laugh Thanks! I'm in the process of moving my hosted images from majhost to dropbox, and when I was copying my old avatar, I felt it looked too plain.

All right. I'll do that. Thanks for your help, and yes, your avatar rocks. Smile

Breaks are good. Always try to take them. :p

The opera is my favorite part of the game and the only part of the GBA version it drove me crazy not to see the proper translation used on.
