Official FF6: Beyond Chaos thread (randomizer)

The SORD..... is the custom item in some seeds, like the Demonica from Tenkarider's playthrough. It's a weapon that randomly casts Palidor, but you're not supposed to be able to use it in battle, I think. I can't offer any explanation other than that, though. I've never heard of items getting replaced with different items, other than through the sketch glitch. However, the SORD..... replaces the Dirk, which is item #0. It's possible that using unbreakable items can have weird side effects, since they repeatedly get removed from the inventory and re-added to it. Maybe by doing it a certain way, you can cause it to transform into item #0 with a quantity of 0, which will roll over to 255 if you destroy or equip it? That's what I'd guess. Maybe this is why the developers decided not to use the indestructible flag for usable items in FF6.

Hmm... no, i doubt it but if someone would test that then it would be better, according to when i used that flag, the worst thing that could happen was being interrupted with death or something else while trying to use it and so temporally lose it in battle, until the battle ends.
And guess what? even in ROTDS Gamma Blade was ID 0, as replacement of Dirk. if he casted Special at least once, then it might even be enough to trigger that evil bug, especially if Special was blocked from the target, and/or while the animation started, one window menu(item, magic, etc) was opened.
Which was the animation of his special?
PS: question to Gi Nattak and Abyss, which was the ID of Zeromus Shard, and which was the ID of Light Robe?

Zeromus Shard item #123.
Light Robe if it's the one from the original should be item #145...

I found another bug! Hurray, right?

I'm not sure why Vegeta was inflicted with Stop, and why that translated into Magitek in later battles. Additionally, neither dumping him in the airship nor resting in a bed will get rid of Magitek(unsurprisingly). This means I lose my throw command on him unless I go into Cyan's dream with him, which should help, according to Lockirby. Another thing not featured in this video is apparently in a later battle, W-Bless inflicted Zombie on Vegeta.

Any chance it's a custom effect that might have a similar effect to evil toot(deals a random status to the target), that due to Abyss edits has no more restrictions on status like Magitek, stop, etc?

I'm not altogether surprised, because the "W-" abilities are known to be glitchy. I've never seen it mess up in that particular way, though. Skills and spells are basically unchanged, so it won't be a random effect like that. My guess is that somehow the effect got corrupted, so Vegeta was inflicted with Stop and Magitek status instead of just Haste.

What "W-" standed for? i don't remember...

It's "double", like W-Meteo in FF4 or W-Item in FF7.

(This post was last modified: 09-06-2015, 12:56 AM by DavidB1111.)
So, I have decided to start a new Randomized game, this time with PartyParty activated.
I'm sure this time I will not get enraged by throwing enemies in random locations.
And hopefully, Ribbons will spawn more than just from one enemy in Ozer's mansion, that's super rare to fight on the Veldt without that cheat code that changes the monsters that spawn on the Veldt.
So, far, thanks to speeding up the dialogue using ZSNES's fastforward option, it shouldn't be too long to get decently far into the game.
Intersting things to note so far, Edgar is replaced by Strago, which makes his lecherousness even more wrong, , Umaro replaces Terra, that's just hilarious. Oh, and Edgar himself shows up, as Kefka.
I believe that's because a random party member is now Kefka.
I also was lucky to get R-Water as one of Umaro's skills.
I do think it's funny to have Edgar become the big bad villain.
Oh, two things to note, Whelk's head died in like 4 hits from 160 to 190 damage. That was really surprising. :O
And Piranhas are really weak when they're monsters in a box. Rizopas is still a hell of a tough fight when you just entered South Figaro, and looting chests in the basement.
Celes replaced the merchant guy who tells you about relics and then runs into a wall.
She has become the Greedy Wine merchant. Clearly she has fallen on hard times.
