To properly name items in FF3usME

If I remember correctly, when renaming an item, you had to click a certain one of the 'blank' spaces in FF3usME to properly classify these items as 'consumable items' and not get removed instantly when sorted. Which one of these spaces is the right one?
I don't really feel like trying out 12 spaces...

This one, the very last blank space, it is byte FF in hex which is a blank space: http://i.imgur.com/Nmtiu.png
