Glad I could help. I've got to say, having an application to test your ideas out in makes the whole process of figuring things out a whole lot easier since the game environment crashes so easy when you start changing things.
Also, it's updated to include the ripple effect, which really brings the backgrounds to life (especially the underwater BG).

Updated with palette shifting. There's a catch though, since the game loads palettes in succession you can't completely pick with palettes you use, only which 3 palette set, so you're somewhat limited without some further hacking. Still you should be able to do some cool things with certain backgrounds (night dessert) and such.

Excellent: while it took me a whole day to examine opera stage BG in all his 128 different palettes to pick the best combinations for my latest task, with this program is very fast to do... i might even consider to swap palettes for my CotG hack!
