I wanted to keep the original battle theme but change it a bit so I used RS3 samples instead.

Here's the mp3: http://madsiur.net/mp3/01_battle.mp3

I like the song overall except the trumpet... is it one octave too high?

here's the instruments:

RS3 - Strings
RS3 - Trumpet
RS3 - Electric Guitar2
RS3 - Electric Bass
RS3 - Open Hihat
RS3 - Closed Hihat
FFVI - Crash Cymbals
RS3 - Bass Drum
RS3 - Snare Drum2

Does anyone would have an idea to make it sound better/more different? I don't want to turn it into a resort song with maracas and flute either lol

Yeah I'd say it's 1 up too high, RS3 instrument's a lot of the time need to come down 1. And also the trumpet is usually a lot louder than FF6's, so might have to edit the volume of it a bit, but maybe bringing it down an octave will fix this. Other than that, it makes for a cool remix of the battle song!

I decided to have Random overworld theme. Each song is going to play enough to hear it completely between random encounters. Here's what I had in mind, in addition to the existing original songs:

WOB:

1) FF4 Overworld Theme (request)
2) FF7 Overworld Theme (in progress)
3) FF9 Overworld Theme (request)

WOR:

1) CT - 600 A.D. (I can do that SPC injection)
2) FF4 - Another Moon (already available)
3) ????

Anyone got an idea for the WOR third song or help me with the requests?

There's always FFV one A New World:
http://www.mediafire.com/listen/k8l4dhwm...ld_spc.wav

It could sound better I know I mixed up an instrument or two or three here...

There's also another one Unknown Lands I think it's called from FFV. There's that FFV>FFVI song utility remember if you need any FFV ones down the road.

Outside of that, I could probably suggest some other good ones if need be, like the Terminator 2 Theme lol:

Would probably need Jackimus to do that one though.

So the randomness, it would be a random change after the battle to another one? And if so, could you make it so it would continue off from where it left off from before, so it wouldn't start all over every time? Like how the overworld songs are now I mean. It might get annoying or sound weird if it restarts after every battle/ten steps, I'm thinking. It would be like the song indexes which need the current song to be paused then resumed, I'd imagine - similar coding anyway.

And here's this FF7 Overworld one I shown you the other day, it is a basic version of the original one keep in mind, but it's the song at least in case a more complicated version is never made:

Also the FFIV Overworld one I did a while back and is in the song data thread:

I like this song. It would fit pretty well the WOR in my opinion. Do you have that utility that convert FF5 song into FF6 data?

As much as I like that theme, I'm trying to stay away from too many pop culture references in my hack.

The song will play between 4 or 5 battles, enough to hear it completely, then it will change (or stay the same if you are lucky -> 25% chances).

I will use this for now but I noticed it misses part of a melody at some point. Still a decent version though.

Thanks for that. It only leaves the FF9 theme to be done, I might attempt it but I'll need a coach for sure.

I really liked this song in the WoR when Nattak had it there initially (I actually hadn't played FF5 when I first heard it). I like the new song that he put there too, but I'm glad that I might hear that song in the WoR again.

I put the FFV>FFVI utility in the tools section a while back. It is confusing as all hell to understand what needs to be done, but I wrote a little readme with it and am here of course to help if need be.

And good idea for the randomness, that should work nicely then.

Looked at some FF9 overworld midis today, and it would be a challenging one, especially after about a minute when the drums come in and all that, it's a pretty large overworld song indeed. I doubt I could do it from what I've seen, might be a good request for Jackimus when he gets some time. You could try though and I can coach! I'll look into it more, it's weird I can't remember that theme at all one bit, I played IX about half ways through also, it sounds alien to me now though lol. It is a really pretty song.
