FF6 Enhanced Presentation and Ideas

This thread is for the hack presentation to give the most accurate idea about it to contributors as well as to have ideas from other people about what should I implement in it.

As the hack title states, I want to do a pimped version of the original with extra features and more elaborated existing features. Event wise, I don't want to modify the existing story but adding layers of event to character backgrounds and sidequests.

Here are the planned features:

General Features
  • Font selector by events (4 fonts) *** COMPLETED ***
  • Dash/Walk option in config menu
  • WOB Colosseum with its own betting list
  • Modified dialogues, with pieces of the following: GBA Script, Kwhazit's and Lina Darkstar's translations
  • Extended item list (277 items) *** IN PROGRESS ***
  • Imp sprite on Overworld for imped characters *** IN PROGRESS ***
  • Extended names (similar to Angelo's patch)
  • Music Player
  • More music
  • Expanded monster list (512 entries)
  • Expanded Monster AI (beyond Edrin's patch) *** IN PROGRESS ***
  • New maps (I need to fix FF6LE to allow complete map edits without error).
  • 14th playable character (Iris from the dead community project)
  • Soul Shrine


Events
  • Status and equipment check event commands *** COMPLETED ***
  • Celes arrest (flashback)


Now this is just a brief summary of what is planned, I need event ideas as I am a poor story writer... Also here's the list of contributors and help needed:

New dialogues
  • Madsiur, who's English is his second language...

If you wish to contribute, just ask me and I'll let you in if you know what you're doing. Right now the only help I really need is with dialogues, event ideas and general ideas about the hack features. Later will comes dialogues revision and the need of beta testers but this is far away...

also what about it being an alternate universe in which this game happens? i suck at storys 2 hence why mks lagging.. also yanno the level edit thing

The only limit is imagination. And 16 colors.. I guess

I'll make a thread dedicated to sprites where you and Poco can post sprites from now on. I dunno about alternate universe, I want to stick to the original story but expand it...

I wouldn't mind contributing something, but certainly not my writing. XD I make at least some effort to keep my grammar strong, but my actual writing ability is mediocre. I suspect that you wouldn't do a whole lot worse even though English is your second language. Your English is good enough that I am rarely reminded that it is your second language when reading your posts anyways. Tongue

Events would be the most likely thing that I could contribute. If you want any of the Shadow flashback scenes from my CYOA opening for whatever reason, you can take those (even if/when I start working on that again, I won't be using those).

You did a great job for the intro and opening a while back. That is really cool for you to offer. What I could do is write basic dialogues and you could improve them or add color to them...

Since you got a better understanding about game mechanism than me, I could use your wisdom when comes the time when I make changes to damage formulas or other code in C2. You could be some sort of freelancer special adviser lol.
