A general fact to know is that most SNES fonts use 2BPP.
Font is at: 00124c00 - 2BPP

Beautiful find. You know, some games have horrible fonts for the text and companies release their games like that. It makes the game look unpolished.

I've been searching the Breath of Fire 2 rom for a while now (Ryusui's retranslation version), and some nice finds I've found include the code that loads the text for the game, the code for the character names, and the code for special abilities (Guts, Will, etc.).

If you use a SNES debugger, it's even better than Windhex in the sense that the dialogue and all item names are readable and you don't have to use any table files at all.

With the game Saga Frontier, I found the offsets for the battle song and some others, and I was able to remove the it using isobuster. Probably I can upload the offsets later on and explain how to do this.

By removing the song I was able to extract the sound effects and create a magic exhibition video for it.

Also, there's a japanese patch for this game that allows you to play Asellus's story as it was planned before square removed all the goodies from the game due to time limit.

EDIT: I think I should have created a new thread for this.

Hey this is neat! Glad to see we are finding stuff in other games! YYCHR is just...a hacker's best friend IMO. Even though a hex editor is essential :p
Ha but anyways I was looking on my hard drive and found an old FFV ROM. I was wondering what is b/c I never played it on my computer (I'm an ipod-emulating guy) and I loaded it up on zsnes and found out it was an old attempt before I even came to the site to edit text in FFV. Ha I replaced the beginning text in FFV from Lenna and the king of Tycoon with...some pretty weird stuff lolz.
It's kinda funny - I'll upload it on YT I suppose. It's interesting how the way text is executed is really just like FF6 is executed!
Ya know, FF for space, 01 for new line, and...there were some other flags Hit

EDIT: Here's the linkie for the video Smile
