So I've got this urge to really work on an entire custom overworld, anyone want to partner up with me and work on a hack? Lets use all the resources on this site in terms of sprites so we don't have to create tons of custom character sheets. I want to use my FFIV tileset that I released awhile back.
If someone does work on this with me, I'll have to make an FFIV underworld tileset.
I might be able to replace the serpents trench with FFIV's moon tileset, but that'd require a lot of work to have players be able to walk in that area.
Anyone interested?

I'd like to perform the following in this hack:
-Overworld Tileset Managment (making the tilesets if need be)
-Creating *part* of the first overworld. I have a lot of experiences with making overworlds; however, it's a lot of work so any help would be great!
-Some bosses, some enemies.

With those three things, that leaves a lot of positions to fill. If no one wants to do this, I'll still probably just go ahead and make a custom overworld.

Default "World of Balance" map with my custom overworld tileset applied.

Here's an update.

Well I could help with events, monster AI, monster sprites or even some assembly hack if you plan to add any of those features in your hack but I'm afraid I can't spend all my hacking time on a new hack as I got my own hack going and I do AMS stuff too because I want to learn more about the assembly language of the SNES...and school is taking most of my free time now.

That map is looking great Zeemis. A community hack sounds like a fun idea, but i have no idea how i'd get involved as I am still pretty illiterate in all areas of FF6 Hacking.

Here's the second update. You can see how I'm placing the map together.

What are you planning for this new continent? New towns and new story elements (which mean new events) or will you place existing location there and keep the story intact?

I started this little hack because I had a craving for some level design and I wanted to use my tileset I made. If no one decides to do this with me, I guess I could do as you suggested and link existing towns to this new world. I plan to replace all the continents.

Here is the 5th and final update until I work on another continent.
Compare between the original overworld, and my new overworld.
Original Overworld
New Overworld

Would anyone like to work on the overworld? Perhaps add your own continent?
