Gaining a greater health from Potions?

I haven't checked how the items work exactly but if you can't get a value higher than 255, that means it reads only 1 byte. I have checked where the value is, and both bytes next to it (the one to the left and the one to the right) are used too. Something tells me that it would be a pain in the ass to change that
