After applying the new patch and isolating the rom and save file to its own folder I was able to get past it. However, not sure if anyone has reported this but the Inn at Tzen (World of Balance) is broken. If you stay there the game dispatches the characters to their respective beds but then when they wake up the screen is oriented more leftward with one of the characters missing when they merge to be on point your character that is on point is trapped in the walls of the Inn and can't get out.
Thanks for fixing this in the latest patch. I'm really liking the new dialog and battles in the game so far.
