Noneless than that, off the current choices we have, Excalibur II wins it, simply cuz it's a reward for rushing trough the game and Steiner fucks the last boss like nothing with it.

Onion Swords are rare drops off of colored dragons in the Crystal Tower's upper floors. The fights are PAINFULLY hard and their encounter rate is just as painfully low. Don't forget how PAINFULLY rare they are. This was "fixed" in FF3DS thanks to the unlockable "dungeon" where you fight the Iron Giant (the game's super boss). In that 40 feet long dungeon, you are guaranteed fights with colored dragons. Just watch out to make sure you don't go too deep, barely survive a fight and get attacked on the way out.

But uhh, I think the strongest weapon is FF6's Illumina. Not only did it practically garuntee quad 9 damage, chance of casting Pearl and boosting your stats to near invincible status (especially in SNES where all you needed was 128% M.Block to do it).
