[GB]Final Fantasy Legend II Hacking ?
#1
Archer
Hello everyone, Break here
Looking to diving into hacking the Nintendo GameBoy game 'Final Fantasy Legend II'
Outside of hex-editing, are there any resources available for this classic ?
More or less looking for any websites or editors that have information on how to modify this game.
For this hack, looking to do the following :

-edit party's starting stats
-edit guest's stats
-edit party's starting items/skills
-edit guest's equipped items/skills
-edit mutant learnable skills
-edit shop items
-edit boss encounters
-edit boss stats/skills/equipment
-edit treasure chest items

Just a few things...but just need a bit of direction to get started.
Thanks in advance, and do take care this month !

So now that the site is back up
Here is what I have completed so far :

--updated party & guest member stats & items/skills
--updated mutant learned skills
--updated shop inventory
--updated boss enemy stats & skills/items

Currently working on finishing up the treasure chest updates
Then will touch up some of the mini-boss battles
After doing some testing/playthroughs...will release what I have !

**UPDATE**
So I have now finished updating the treasure chests in the game (took a minute)
And currently touching up the mini-boss battles in the game.
After that, will look around at the growth rate for humans & mutants
Do some gameplay testing...and then release what I have.

With that said, if you have played the original, you can clear this game in about 3 hours.
Again, thanks for all the support !!

This game sure brings back memories. I remember playing this game a lot back in the days and found the reset bug on my own (and exploited it on a couple of playthroughs, grinding stats was pretty slow otherwise), I later learn that the exploit was only possible on the original fat Gameboy. I think I got the Seven Sword only twice over a dozen of playthroughs, too bad it wasn't really useful with only 7 charges, I guess it was there to kill last boss faster. Most of my playthroughs consisted of 3 or 4 robots since they are pretty overpowered but very expensive, I hated that weapons were consumables so using robots was the answer.

3 hours to finish the game? that's speedrun territory.

@Warrax

Hey there, I have not looked into any of the bugs/exploits for this game.
Sounds like something I would be interesting in learning about !
Any yes, if you just shop for upgrades and fight each boss
You can complete this game in about 3 hours (with a good party setup)
At least that I what my hack is trying to do.

**UPDATE**

Been offline for about two weeks now
Everything that I want to change is now done.
Will take the next week or so to walk through the game and test things out (boss battles and town shops)
While testing, I plan on making small edits to make the game flow the way I want.
Again, I plan to have things ready in the coming week...so thanks for everyone's help !!

**UPDATE #2**

Hello everyone, I have now finished my second test run of the game
And very happy with the changes made along the way.
It has been a blast testing everything out
But currently debating if I want to do a little more monster editing.
As of now, it should take around 4~5 hours to beat the game instead of 2~3 hours.
I will be taking this next week to review a few things and then release what I have.

**UPDATE #3**

Apologize for the bump
But I figure it would be better to reply here
Rather than start a new thread and such.
Had some computer issues
So I have not been able to focus on this game like I want to.

With that said, I am still working on this game
Currently finished up to the "Edo World"
Very happy with the progress and balance of the game so far !
With the right setup, one could even speed run this game (with some practice)
Also, will post the change log once completed.
I hope you all are able to check it out !

Other hack threads usually have a summary for the hack, with the changes made, maybe some screenshots of those changes in effect, etc, and a link for the patch file for the patch file on the first post. Try reading other threads and use them as some sort of template?
