Possible To Change the Save Point Location in a Save File?

I picked up a Retron 5 recently, and while revisiting the games of my child hood, I decided to give my favorite game of all time another run through - that of course being FF6. And then an idea occurred to me. I'm not sure if this is possible, but I wanted to start a new FF6 game, but I would like to be able to do my own "New Game Plus" - meaning to move the save spot from the end of the game, to the first possible point in the game. Like the first save point with Terra, or even on the world map outside Narche for example. is this possible to do, and would all the party members keep their weapons, stats, and levels?

I've tried various save editors, and I'm not sure if its because the Retron 5 saves the game a special way but they are in .sav extension. Any thoughts, or is this even possible?
