Character suits like the Moogle Suit?

So I was thinking, Relm has the Moogle Suit- when in battle, she is portrayed as a double of Mog, with her power.
I was wondering how this is achieved, and if it could be duplicated. For example, giving armors like "Strago's Suit", and have a character (Gogo) be a Strago double.
Thoughts? Any other ideas?
