Skeans: Changing their effects and animations

I was able to change the effects of the elemental skeans through ff6usme but I am unable to change their animations. Also, I want to give Shadow a throw-only smoke bomb useable only by him. I tried to alter invis/shadow edge and cannot change the animation or the effect properly. I can hex edit these if possible, but is it worth the trouble. Does anyone have advice as to how to accomplish this?
