Help with palette change
03-24-2014, 08:35 PM
OK, I'm replacing the sprite for Terra with a new sprite that uses palette 4. I know I saw a guide somewhere on the site talking about what hex values to change for the characters in the over world as well as battle sprites, but I can't seem to find it now. if anyone could point me in the right direction or link me to the thread I'm looking for it would be appreciated.
also, out of curiosity, what is the Hex editor of choice for you master FF6 Hackers? I'm looking for a good one but I haven't found one I really like yet.

I second HxD. Hex Workshop is also great, but requires a license.
I dislike Windhex.

HxD is my favorite free hex editor.

there is a tutorial answering your question look for it
"Sometimes ninjas do wrong to each other, and in dat way the force of tha earf' comes around da moon - and at that presence, da dirt, it overshadows the grass, so you're like, I can't cut dis grass, there's no sun comin' through. So in order to enable each other the two fruits have to look each other in da eye and understand we can only be right, as da ripe is wrong, you know what I mean?"

When I try using FF3usME it doesn't seem to save the palette change. but that tutorial is Exactly what I was looking for and couldn't remember where it was. Thank You Menzies and Poco Loco(especially for writing that tutorial in the first place)!

Just found this on ROMhacking.net: Synchronized Palettes
It's not exactly what you were asking for, but it might be useful.

That does look interesting. it would make it easier for sure to change palettes around, but I wonder how well it's compatibility would be? I'll try it in more depth when I have time. Thanks!
