FF6 Beyond Chaos playthrough

My next playthrough will be on FF6 Beyond Chaos randomizer, made from Abyssonym: the one that i consider the best randomizer guy of the whole FF6 scenario.
In the first minutes of part 1 i directly show how to make work the program, using a fresh new rom, generate the randomized rom and so i start to play.

As seed i wrote: 205141111894518
It's not a random choice, it's "Tenkarider" converted into numbers, letter by letter:
T -> 20
E -> 5
N -> 14
K -> 11
A -> 1
R -> 18
I -> 9
D -> 4
E -> 5
R -> 18
So it's my personal randomized seed XD
Due to the random nature of the game, i really cannot provide a commentary of my actions, strategies, choices since i really don't know what will gonna happen as i play

Nice, I've been looking forward to this. I'll split my notes between this forum and the other.

• Your name results in a strange randomization... everyone starts with the Item command, which is a less than 1% chance.
  
• Xianpu (Terra) was undead somehow... fortunately, Vicks was able to save the day with his right-handed Paladin Shield.
• Whelk had a special attack called "Pile Armor" which surprised me. It had a strange effect, that seemed to stun Vicks until he was attacked again. I'm guessing that this attack was supposed to inflict "near death" status, but maybe I don't really understand how that works.
• Genome (Mog) started with a lucky Flame Shield! This is pretty rare, because it means that it's the weakest shield he can equip. So I'm guessing that his equipment options will be very limited. An early Flame Shield is nice, but I'm not worried about it upsetting the carefully developed balance of power levels
• Sketch seems to be working as intended, and has a high chance of using the enemy's most powerful signature skills.
• Shoutouts to Dessyreqt, who somehow made it into the game as a low-level enemy in South Figaro Cave.
  

- Looks like it doesn't like my name to the randomizer! still i want to see more randomness with next allies...
- I'm pretty sure Undead is given from one of the 4 starting equips of Terra, i'm looking forward to discover which one(hopefully one L/R hand, so that i can switch in battle from living to undead )... Anyone remembers if Regen does negative damage to undeads? in the case i might find out the infamous gear in the next segment;
- That was definitively the behavior of Sleep: atb stopped, when hit the atb returns to 0, and after a while the animal appears to wake you up... maybe Sleep status icon(ZZZ above head) won't show, while riding a magitek armor?
- Rare, huh? Then also my bro was lucky, he obtained a flame shield too, from Mog;

(I'm not sure to have understood the last point...)

Ah, sleep, that makes sense. Still, sleep is ranked pretty high among enemy skills. I'm surprised that Whelk, a level 6 boss, would be able to obtain it.

Btw it was buckler shield the one who put Terra undead, on a side note Magus hat sets auto regen, which is cool!

My notes...

• I was disappointed that you had Blitz for Vargas... until I realized what the true boss of Mt. Koltz was.
  
• It seems like people are encountering TunnelArmr a lot in the newer versions... I guess it makes sense. It wasn't available for random encounters in older versions, and it's one of the few bosses with an appropriate level for the early zones.
  
• You can do Suplex easily, just press "up up R R down". It seems like the diagonal inputs scare off a lot of players from using Blitz, so starting from version 50, Blitzes are going to always have diagonals in logical places and will look less scary (but won't be any less difficult to do, IMO).
  
• R-Earth is pretty nice when you have float.
  
• I chuckled a bit when you talked to that Returner and he said "Not even the Empire'd think to look here for us!", right after you fought Kefka-in-a-box.
  
• Apparently the Returners aren't lacking in funding, Banon had some wicked gear and his abilities weren't bad either... he can Jump away from danger whenever he wants. He's the perfect escort mission NPC.

- I think i had an insane amount of luck in having Blitz right with him
- I'll try casting Suplex once more, then...
- It's funny how Xianpu, which looks appearently weak, reveals useful at the end;
- Kefka hidden in a box in returner's hideout was epic
- Banon is basically invincible(i might say he's the one who escorts me )... part 7 will definitively show that.

Not so much obvious, but in the randomizer you definitively want to find the steal guy as soon as possible: my bro didn't had steal with any ally and so he was forced to use Thief Knife to steal...

• It's nice to have lightning attacks for Ultros, since he's weak to both fire and lightning, but only counters fire attacks.
• That girl said magitek armored soldiers have no honor, but he was willing to blow himself up to prevent you from getting to the other side of town.
• Ryoko has a thematically appropriate hair color.
• I never knew about that secret passage in the South Figaro basement (before the first chest)
• Virite sucks, lol.
• Your tenacity really paid off fighting the Presenter. I would have given up right away, and definitely wouldn't have thought of breaking the Genji Glove. And you got a Genji Shld and a Wing Edge for it.
• I liked how you used the Wing Edge from the first Presenter to kill the second one.
• R-Water is probably the best random elemental spell, since it always does an attack that targets all enemies and has decent power.
• TunnelArmr really gets around. How fast does it have to travel to get from Mt. Koltz to South Figaro Cave to the Imperial Camp in that timeframe?
• You missed the hidden chest in the back of the Imperial Camp (behind the tent with two chests in it)
• I never knew there was an optional Magitek Armor fight in the Imperial Camp, if you go back the way you came.
  

- Which one? the one hidden in the zone of basement in which you do random battles? the most relevant item you find in that room is a Ribbon, but the Presenter revealed even more amazing;
- Definitively a Jackpot: Kensin won't go down with melee;
- I was sure he was weak to death too: i used Silk dress(demi) to verify he was weak to instant death, or it would have missed;
- What i don't like of R-water is that i saw only 3 spells with it: Bismark, Water Edge and El Nino;
- You didn't knew about basement secret, or an optional fight in the camp, but you did know a secret like that?!? I've never discovered that in all my life!!!
I'll load a savestate in part 13: before starting the actual run i'll spend a minute in showing that chest content.

This time i'm gonna wait for reinforcements...

• There was an enemy called Fritat that gave you Near Death status, which triggered a Safe spell to activate. I thought that was pretty funny.
• Spent an awful long time trying to get a shuriken, haha.
• Every time Juggy died, it sounded like it was being revived by Life 3... maybe it had innate Life 3 but it doesn't work because it's undead?
• Were you switching shields to avoid double damage from Flash Rain? But it seems like it backfired pretty bad when you equipped the shield that made you undead...
• Wow, I don't think I've seen a character start with that much magic power... you were able to get him up to 83 MPwr... too bad he can't use Magic.
• The Cruzdus enemy had innate True Knight, it seems.
• Based on the battle music, Anythmaili must be a randomly-generated secret boss. So I expect that he'll be pretty tough...
