Alright guys. So Madsuir helped me figure this out the other day and it worked but now it won't and idk why.

When obtaining Locke you get an item. I put this at the start of the naming him event after moving the code.

ORIGINAL
CC/A6CA: 7F 01 01 98 01

NEW
CCA6CA: B2 1A FE 02 FD

CC:FE1A: 80 A9 7F 01 01 98 01 FE

The above code freezes after the name change but I can't figure out why... Worked before

I know FF3usME use some bytes at the end of the CC bank when you save. You should check if your new code is still there.

I see nothing wrong with the above code.

FD just acts as a NOP here. It's a dummy command to prevent the game from reading command 01 when it comes back from the B2 command.

Looks like Mad was spot on again! So this worries me. Should double check all my custom stuff after I save with ff3usme? Or does it only effect bytes at the end of CC?

I believe it only affect bytes at the end of bank CC. You would know by comparing a clean ROM and one that you have saved with or by running an IPS report.
