Testing...

Came here because of the "Soldier's Contingency" hack, but also played the "Dark Sorcerer" hack and several others, over the years.

Hello to you all, and thank you for all the great work you've been doing! Smile

Hello! I am 伏木王! Fushikio which loosely means king of the Mysteriousness  which although I've been using it for a while is kind of what everyone engaged in hacking ultimately is.

I currently am mostly an enjoyer of hacks....However:

I have been teaching myself how to make a sprite with Hoxnorf's wonderful sprite of Lenna as a white mage from the 2.0 giant sprite download as well as some of the tutorials.

It's just so fascinating all the little details from a pixel here and there, what makes a skirt, a cape, and yes Ballet slippers or heels.

I've truly gone down the rabbit hole.

I also know enough to realise that now that I have a brand new sprite the side views will be like creating a new sprite from scratch almost. So I want to make sure all my colours and stuff are compatible with FF3us before making side sprites(have back and front and walkies)

I am so grateful to FF6 hacking for the giant sprite pack and Hoxnorf for adding their work to it.

But now it's time to get out the hdmi cables, fire up the pc and the wireless keyboard and mouse and have some fun.

Anyways Hello everyone! Pummel

Welcome Fushikio!

When working on sprites, color management is important. Final Fantasy 6 sprites have access to fifteen colors (plus a transparency), but sprites that appear in battle can only use eleven colors (with transparent being the twelfth). The palette is indexed, meaning each color has a specific spot in the palette. This is important because there are colors that get replaced as a sprite goes through battle: the outline with various glowing colors and the two flesh tones with status colors like Berserk and Poison.

There's a tutorial on the wiki that walks through this color information in more detail, you can read it here:

Welcome again to FF6Hacking.com!

Hey all! I'm BZ Hacks, formally known as Bahamut ZERO. Used to be a member, but list access to my old email account and therefore had no way of living into my old account

I've bounced back and forth modding random games over the years, but I'm hoping to eventually do some fun little mini hacks and slowly learn the ins and outs of hacking this game.

Hello everyone!

I am a big FF6 fan. Still have my original SNES cartridge, the battery died a few years back during a playthrough so we had to crack it open and sodder a new battery so the save files would remain. Still managed to beat it afterward. Also have it on PSX (never again), on Mobile (no thanks), and the Pixel Remaster.

Here because my t-edition doesn't have the updated FFVI portraits I've seen in other player's screenshots, and I need them.

Hi hi. I just want to introduce myself. I'm Becca. I'm a fan of Final Fantasy 6. I'm not sure how much hacking I'll be doing per se, but I was hoping to get some advice on recording animations from the game for things like streaming effects.

Hello and welcome. Hello Hopefully someone will be able to chime in on your thread regarding this, the extracting of battle animations. Maybe try plugging in the search term 'battle animations' into the search and see if there's anything helpful. I do seem to recall a long time ago someone who was making a project where they did just that, but it's been so long that I can't remember who or where, or if they're still around... I think it was FFT related maybe, like getting FF6 animations into FFT -- while not technically a hack, there is a project that I think just recently was released or updated or something called: 'Final Fantasy 6 Tactics' that you could look into, to see if they did something like that or can provide some help. I'm not exactly sure where the best place is to find out about that hack or contact the author, but perhaps someone around here knows and could relay that information. Or maybe the animations are already extracted online somewhere, I don't think they are on the FF6 Hacking Wiki page, but I'm not too sure... Anyways good luck!
