FF6 Steam Version

The link Beyond69 provided is dead on; I think SE is shooting the bunch of us the finger with this one.

The FFV PC port is based on iOS, and thus the files are separated, but the FFVI PC port is based on Android, and SE left all the graphics, music, etc. gathered up in an encrypted binary blob. Which is password protected, to boot. Until someone breaks it, it's not going to be moddable at all. And that sucks, because FFV has only been out on PC for a short time and there are already mods popping up for it.

Seems like SE really didn't want anyone modding FFVI.

(Wow, it's weird to say the phrase "a billion years" and probably be under-exaggerating )

Things might change if an underground community of hackers would suddenly appear on internet and do that(surely they have better means than us)

Looks like there are VEEEEEEEEEEEERY powerful hardware/softwares able to do that in about 4-5 hours with the current password's length(128-256 bit if i'm not wrong)
But that shit costs something like 10 billion dollars and obviously only few people can afford that(like US government for example, which owns this stuff indeed)

Without modding ability for this version, It's been crossed off my list. *sigh* We can do more with the SNES version anyway.

But I'll tell you, if people don't want that shoddy ios port, they won't buy it. And what sucks, is that Squeenix is going to incorrectly blame it on a lack of interest for the IP. (like they did with the sub-par Chrono Trigger ds sales. Everyone remembers that lovely "Want more? BUY more!" speech, right?) ....which may end up affecting the chance of an actual re-make.

The file structure of FF6 probably isn´t much different from FFV maybe someone can build a .obb file based on the FFV file structure ?

I'm CodecX, a guy who really likes FF6. This remake is shit, I'm seeing various communities are scrambling to make it worth playing.

I am seeing a lot of people who seemingly want to help but don't have the cash to buy the game.
If this sounds like you, then let me know. I haven't done any secret santa stuff this year.

I can afford to gift a few "lumps of FF6 coal" if someone has the skill set to help turn it into a diamond.

From my point of view, as far as i know, FF6Hacing.com should be one of the/the best site to discern secrets of ff6 remake file and there's a lot of skilled hackers here that might attempt and also complete this challenge.
