Say 4 hours aren't enough for finish speedcave with chaos flags, would it be a good way to judge the winner the number of shops found through the race? in case of tie the winner might be the one who arrived first at his last new shop...

I added a comma for grammatical purposes that broke the link. I fixed it.

cool.
Ok, let's discuss about some potential rule/restriction:

1) Savestates: totally disabled or limited to some fixed spot?
2) Time limit: Say after 4 hours no one still finished, in the case some people can't stream further, how do we decide the winner? besides the winning condition must be set according to BC's modes, so classic BC will have certain rules, like 'till narshe; Ancient cave and speedcave should have different conditions, something that can be defined as a milestone i mean, here i might have need of Abyssonym to know what can be considered as a reliable milestone.(even more milestones, i thought to shops, but i don't know if they're reliable)
3) this one should be obvious, but just to be sure: speed up button is forbidden.
4) the moment in which the seed/patch is shared: 1 hour before the stream or half an hour?
5) Other rules? Dunno if they are necessary, but maybe you have some idea? If you have some, then post them and we'll discuss them.

Wait, LV+50% actually does something? As for the race, I'm basically open for the next couple of days, but move-in day at university is approaching, so I probably won't be available from something like the 7th to the 12th.

How much people knows that Abyss gave an effect to both the 2 dummied weird boosts? LV + 50% cuts half the exp required to the next lv up, if the esper was assigned while leveling up

The shops/rest stops are a good milestone if you need one. There's 12 of them and they are evenly distributed throughout the dungeon. Four on each party's path, and three in each "zone".

Cool, then unless anyone has any objection, i confirm shops as milestones to count in order to decide the winner in caves run, when stream takes too long.

A little behind on whats going on with this, apparently! Myself and MrEntity are likely in for a race.

I'm less familiar with Beyond Chaos, but Im pretty sure that one has more customizeability now? If so, that could end up working really well.

That said, you generally dont want to change to much of the game, I'd say.

Also, I think it was Tenka who asked about this, but yeah, I'd say savestates / taking tabs / looking at the rom code or generated guide is a straight up no-no. That makes the race less about playing the game, and more about who is the better hacker/emulator user/whatever.

As for availability, any night after 10PM EST is good for me, but I can start much earlier (anytime) mondays and tuesdays.

As far as start time goes, I dont think it's necessary to be super strict on that, just as long as everyone involved is playing at the same time. That's what the livesplit timer is for.

Also as far as length of the run goes, you really dont want to go more than 3, maaaybe 4 hours. Ive done some marathon speedrunning sessions before for this game and others, and lemme tell ya a couple hours in, you really lose focus and etc. At least, I do.

When we startin?

Oh, and as far as spectating/screenwatching goes, you can set up a multitwitch to have multiple guys on the same stream. Don't ask me how though, just know that a buddy of mine did if for a punchout race I did a few weeks ago.

Welcome aboard! Objection!
Beyond Chaos has plenty of flags and codes, all flags are set by default, if you do it manually, then you can choose any possible combination of flags and codes and generate your custom randomization! while we're agree on setting almost all flags, codes are usually left unused, yet it's possible some time to discuss about doing a themed race, which means using some code too.

Except generated guides, since no one said anything about the other 3 things, i'm going to assume it's ok if they are disabled no matter what; since someone said was agree on guides, in the case they request it, we might discuss about using guide in some race, otherwise they'll be disabled by default.

No one said anything about the rules mentioned in previous posts, can i assume you're agree on everything?

If yes, then it's time to discuss about first race's date! Kungfu!

@Tenka: I agree to those rules.

I threw together a spreadsheet to keep track of our weekly schedules to help plan. It won't be enough to set up definitive times easily, but rather it's intended to be a starting point. Adjustments will probably need to be made everywhere. Mention if you don't have a consistent weekly schedule and you may need to be left out of the spreadsheet and simply discuss options manually. I'm almost certain that Cecil will fall into that category, since he is starting university at exactly the wrong time, and he won't be used to his schedule (and when he might be able to expend a four hour block safely) if this happens in the near future. All times are recorded in the timezone that Madsiur and I live in (EDT). If every area on the spreadsheet from 7:00 to 11:00 is coloured, then it means that you are available from 7:00 to 11:00.

Madsiur, you said you were available to "start" a race from 5:00 to 7:00, for a 4 hour race. So I coloured you in as free from 5:00 to 11:00.

Jackimus, you didn't provide any end time (although you listed a start time of 10:00 PM), so I basically said that you were free until 4:00 AM. I also adjusted for your timezone. I also labelled Mr. Entity's schedule to be the same as yours. If any of that is wrong feel free to correct me.

Rather than divide the players up by random draw or something, maybe it would be easiest to simply divide up into the two groups whose schedules clash the least?
