Yeah, or you could be unlucky like me and have to go through 8 save/loads of the same save state trying to get the battle to not instantly start with instant death blizzard.

Celes replaces Sabin.

Okay, so, I don't know how the steal line works in the guide.
But there's a monster in the Pheonix cave with this as it's steal.
STEAL: Paladin Shld, Ashura

I'm hoping the Paladin Shield is not the rare one.
But I guess it lists the rare first?

Also, while it lists the Ribbon in the Colliseum list to bet for something, it apparently doesn't show up at all in the entire game.
That seems like the randomizer is really mean today.

Despite the potential for never ending Paladin shields with patience.

Well, I didn't have to worry about Bannon this time, dude came with the Paladin shield and Minverva equiped, had like 85% evasion and magic evasion.
He carried his own in battle because he had sword tech.

Oh, uh, the merchants you get to beat up in Locke's quest drop Muscle Belts. Which is very nice.
So, what's the reason behind that I wonder? I like it a lot.
Also ,the ghosts on the phantom train, spawned with the cursed shield.
That was nice.
Phantom Train beat me up pretty good this run though.
