Peer sprite viewer works on a ff6j rom and on the 1.0 us rom. Did you change as well the address in the "compress" window and changed the decompression to ff6?

Just one warning about editing those... errmmm... Espers? You'll have to change by hand some pointers too, it won't be just a decompress/compress thing.
