RE: Final Fantasy VI SNES Woosley Uncensored Edition - B-Run - 06-27-2013 If memory serves me... i believe the tiers leading to final Kefka are all built into the background and editing them would require getting the japanese battle background tileset and using it to replace the one in your hack... I admittedly know very very little about this process and it may not work as simply as I'm describing. But I do know battle background editing is one of the more difficult and untested realms of FFVI hacking. Peer Sprite Viewer won't let me save a .bin file and I'm not sure why. I know its been done on a 1.1 ROM but my hack is built on a 1.0 and isn't compatible. I refuse to give up though. When I tried Peer Sprite Viewer, I found it does not work with FF6j. I refuse to give up though... Did you change as well the address in the "compress" window and changed the decompression to ff6? Just one warning about editing those... errmmm... Espers? You'll have to change by hand some pointers too, it won't be just a decompress/compress thing. RE: Final Fantasy VI SNES Woosley Uncensored Edition - Rodimus Primal - 06-29-2013 Well that would explain what's going on when I attempted to use Lord J's uncensored graphics patch. It fixed the final battle but screwed up everything else in battle background as well as monster sprites. I think I may as well leave this part alone for now. I may come back to it if I can either figure it out or someone else does. As it stands, my 1.0 is already released on RHDN. RE: Final Fantasy VI SNES Woosley Uncensored Edition - Thad - 07-09-2013 Hi Rodimus, Balance and Ruin has me jonesing for a replay and I'm trying to decide which version of the game to play. Yours looks like a pretty good choice, but I was wondering: You've said you've drawn from the Woolsey, Slattery, Lina Darkstar, and RPGOne versions; obviously your main focus is sticking with Woolsey, but what would you say is roughly the breakdown? Say, 80% Woolsey, 10% Slattery, 7% Darkstar, 3% Joyless Weeaboo, something like that? I love the original translation but I think Slattery's got a lot right too; Woolsey did a lot under tight restrictions, but censorship wasn't the only one, and I find Slattery's more verbose script often conveyed details that Woolsey's didn't (for example, Sabin's line, of Edgar, "He's always been fair with me" is something more like "He's always put others ahead of himself" in FF6A). And there are some others that are kinda gray area -- Terra referring to Sabin as "some bodybuilder who strayed from his gym" has its charm, but on the other hand it makes a lot more sense for Sabin to immediately refer to himself as a "bear" with the original line about thinking he was another of Vargas's bears. Anyhow, just curious. Thanks for all the work you've done. RE: Final Fantasy VI SNES Woosley Uncensored Edition - Rodimus Primal - 07-11-2013 Slattery was good but many people glued to Woolsey's script like its the best thing since sliced bread. I used Woolsey's script as the base so its still for the most part that. I probably would say 80% is still his and I didn't want to stray too far from it. For that line Terra says about Sabin, I added in "I thought he was a bodybuilding bear that strayed from his gym." By doing that, the "think a 'bear' like me can help in your fight?" line makes more sense. Plus it keeps the Woolsey charm. The lines that censored certain things made more sense to add in a Slattery, RPGOne, or Darkstar line. For example, the whole business with the Statues/Warring Triad/Warring Gods. I had to read those lines over and went with Slattery's Warring Triad and referred to them as gods in the script. This clears up the confusion as to what the Statues were in Woolsey's original. The famous lines like "call me a treasure hunter or I'll rip your lungs out" and "Son of a submariner" aren't changed but things like when Edgar greets Kefka in Figaro is "What brings Kefka, humble servant of Emperor Gestahl, into our lowly presence?" in the original is now "What brings Kefka, humble servant of Emperor Gestahl, to my humble castle?" He's a king and his greeting is to an ally. Some character names where fixed as well. Madonna is now Madeline, Vicks is now Biggs, Matron is now High Priestess, the Impresario on the Phantom Train is now Conductor. I really went line for line looking at the script with the GBA, RPGOne, and Darkstar's scripts opened up to read along with. It was like reading one of those study Bibles with 4 different translations (usually KJV, Amplified, NIV, and NLT) side by side in one book. Go ahead and try out my version. I don't think you'll be disapointed. It's now version 1.1.
