Imp, BTW, is the one that gets messed up after using FF3usME, so double check its palette in hex before you update your final version link. it'll take on the palette of the sprite before it if you open the sprite editor then save the game.

Really? Because I've saved usME up to now numerous times and my new Imp has been fine. Directly checked the Hex and it's good.

How exactly imp gets messed up? It's the only character battle sprite i changed until now in my hack...

Maybe its fixed in newer versions of FF3usME, i ran into this problem in 2013 and haven't check since....

FF3usME doesn't have a separate location to save OAM palettes, so it actually grabs from the battle palette you set and saves that in the OAM data. Because the main 14 (I guess "mane 14" here, right?) have 2 OAM sprites each, FF3usME saves each palette for both sprites. It reads the correct pointer to the OAM data, but it automatically saves 2 sprites-worth of OAM palettes... but for characters beyond the original 14, theres only one sprite... so it'll save the palette change for the sprite, and the sprite after it. I ran into this when i was first setting up CoV when Terra (who is in the Imp sprite slot for me), kept getting her OAM palette saved as 01 from the soldier sprite in front of it. I'd have to change it in the hex constantly... and i discovered if i changed the battle palette of the soldier, it would change the battle palette for Terra each time as well.

Again, this might have been fixed... this was 3 years ago now. But that's what used to happen.

So I'm ready for bed, just checking the Fimfiction group... see a post in the bug report thread. A broken event crashing the game. Guess which one...

THE LOCKE FLASHBACK

Fairly easy to figure out why, in my infinite wisdom I moved my new flashback all the way to the FE drive, where Rydel put some of his stuff, so it got overwritten. Was fun tracking it down too since my notes are gone with my PC wipe and I had no idea where I had moved the flashback to, but found it! Fairly easy fix too, fire up an old rom, dump the event from there, move it somewhere else, redefine the subroutine jump to it... except not. The animation where Locke is pushed and moves to the right was halting the event. I don't know why, that specific action was unchanged from vanilla. But anything put after it - cue a sound effect, cue a text screen, cue a battle - didn't trigger, including my event jump. No, I don't mean I changed the jump to jump to a battle routine. I mean, I removed the jump and replaced it with codes to do those things. Didn't work. Spent an hour trying to figure out why. Moved Locke being pushed to the rest of the moved event coding and put the jump to it before he's pushed... and now it works.

I don't know why Locke's action was halting the entire event. I don't know moving his action to after the jump suddenly stopped that. I don't know why I had originally moved the event all the way to the FE drive. And I don't know why whatever creator deity you believe exists would gift me the chance to put the moved event in the same spot as Rydel put some of his stuff. I don't know. I don't know anything. But I would wager that if sat down and counted the posts, half this ridiculously long thread that is a testament to my ignorance would be about getting Umaro to work and getting this ONE SINGLE EVENT TO WORK BECAUSE IT FEELS LIKE THIS IS THE NINTH TIME I'VE HAD TO TROUBLESHOOT IT AND NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES I SHOOT IT THE TROUBLE KEEPS COMING BACK.

...I'm going to go to bed now, alternating between sobbing and giggling in hysterics. Thank you, everyone, for letting me get this off my chest. Carry on...

That's odd - my patch shouldin't have anything in the FE bank. It uses the end of FC and the beginning of FD

Check if ff3usme is using that bank for something like battle script expansion in 'manage expanded rom' on the very first menu when you open it.

It's no big deal, I moved it to CC/FE@@ where my other new events are. Can keep track of them there easier.
