RE: Pony Fantasy VI Remake - Gi Nattak - 03-03-2016

Me as a moderator: Please do not link to the actual ROM itself, even if it's in a zip file. You'll need to create a patch instead. Thanks.
Making a patch is easy, just get a patching program like Lunar IPS or SNEStuff, a clean ROM of the same version and everything (header/no header too!) and your hack, and the program is pretty self-explanatory there will be a create ips patch tab and follow the instructions. Be sure and test the patch though after.

Sorry, my bad. It's okay though, I've got the Rom hosted linked on the Fimfiction group, which I'd hope people go through anyway.

RE: Pony Fantasy VI Remake - Gi Nattak - 03-03-2016

No prob, and ok. But you'd hope people from here would go there to download it?

I visited there just now, and have no idea where to find it lol. What a confusingly cluttered site...

"I can't link directly the ROM?"

"I'll link a thread I created elsewhere that has a link to the ROM."

While we don't have a strict policy regarding this, linking site that host ROM is also disallowed (such as emuparadise). Technically you are doing the same thing, though I understand fimfiction is not a ROM site.

Would it be really too much to ask you to create a patch?

Edit: I realize rule #5 is not clear on that but I would prefer we stay away the most from ROM files if possible. I'm also aware there is a link to a site that host a FF3us ROM in the link page, so basically you can link your thread but I'd prefer you create a patch. But you can leave it like that as well, for now. I'll have to think about this.

Edit2: We helped you through your creation process, now it's your turn to help us to stay on the whiter side of the gray zone that is ROM hacking by creating a patch.

RE: Pony Fantasy VI Remake - DrakeyC - 03-03-2016

When making the patch, which rom do I select first, the hack or the original rom?

RE: Pony Fantasy VI Remake - Gi Nattak - 03-03-2016

It should state this with either Lunar IPS or SNEStuff, but it's usually (always) the original first, then the hack.

Nice : )

When you have a final version, you could maybe do a thread in the Game Hacks sub-forum. Adding a description and screenshots would be welcome if you do so.

Yeah, and I'd still like to know how exactly this hack differs from the previous MLP hack, and how much of that hack made it over into yours - I noticed there was some info and a possible readme in the zip package you had linked, but this patch here is lacking any of that, and like I said I couldn't find it on that other website. I'm wondering if the .txt files you included explains what all's been added from the other pony hack etc. I mean, I know what you've worked on throughout this thread, which obviously would differ from the other, but having not played either I'm just curious, like if you used his as a base, or imported the sprites or w/e. Or is this a totally different hack all together?

RE: Pony Fantasy VI Remake - DrakeyC - 03-03-2016

It's pretty much an entirely different hack altogether, which is why I eventually retitled it "Filly Fantasy VI." This is really better thought of as a spiritual successor than a remake, because it was the inspiration, but that's about it to a point.

I can't speak to the original mod, but I worked entirely on my own and only references the original for sprites. That said, the differences from the base mod are increased difficulty via adjusted stat growth for enemies and the party, many more equipment pieces teach spells, there are new spells, old spells and abilities were adjusted, and the story is entirely overhauled.
