Greetings,

I applied what I learned and made some progress - did a ridiculously simple but creepy tune - it needs more sounds but makes a nice loop - has a Silent Hill feel to it - hopefully I can pull it off 100%

Here is the link: http://www.suraisu.com/ffmod/Stalking Breeze.mid

Scratching sounds ... have no idea what instrument will do that - time for more randomness Pummel

Cheers!

Congrats on the song! I'm getting a 404 error page from the link however.

It's a decent start. I don't know which effect you used (reverb?) but there's too much of it, I'm sure it would sound better if the bass was clearer. An eerie melody or percussions would definitely help too.

Ah I had thought you had gotten the song into the game and all that. I see you made your own midi though, that's cool. It is super basic indeed, but a good starter midi nonetheless. Quite an ominous sound, it did remind me of a Silent Hill ambient/ominous track. FF6 piano sucks bad a lower octaves, though... it will most likely not sound like a clear grand piano bass note like it does in the midi, once you move on to the next step of the process - getting the song into the game!

That's exactly why I haven't tried to place it in the game yet - though it sounds decent - acoustic grand isn't the instrument for what I'm looking for - might move the notes a little higher - once I'm done, I'll make a short video with new song in effect - Cheers!

Hm...It isn't bad for a first tune. It could be used for maybe the Phantom Train or a cave. Still needs some more sounds though maybe like an ominous wind or tapping sound.
