Those are places where the new script is shorter than the original, and the patch didn't bother to overwrite the old bits at the end. It shouldn't matter, but I guess I might as well overwrite them.

Curiosity question.  I'm new to the randomizer, never modded a ROM before, and only have a passing knowledge/usage of CheatEngine.  So, pretty basic, almost next to nothing in terms of knowledge.  I recently started a playthrough with the 'playsitself' flag and noticed that the game will try to cast spells without having the MP to do so.  I'm assuming this is because Umaro didn't have magic so the game never needed an MP check and is just randomly picking from any available skill/spell.  Is adding a check like that to the game logic possible?
