No problem! I'm just glad it still works Laugh

Maybe if/when you release the next version you could put in a couple extra messages to better indicate to the user when it is done. For example, you could do something like writing "Wait for the 'ROM generated' message to determine when the randomizer is finished" at the start of the randomization, and then writing "ROM generated" at the end. I know that I closed down the randomization early as well the first time, but I eventually reasoned out my issue.

Since i already knew about the randomization of Kefka Tower, i was aware that i had to wait the related message, before it was finished... but thinking better there's a point or two in which the message displayed makes you believe that the randomizer has already finished.

Does anyone else have the issue that the game freezes in the first battle? I just did my first randomization and got into my first battle in Magitek armor, but the game freezes as soon as a turn comes up Hmm

Tell me your seed + flags and I'll test it to see if I get the same problem.

RE: Official FF6: Beyond Chaos thread (randomizer) - eb173009 - 04-19-2015

All is good now. I think the issue was with the File that I had, it must've been damaged. Downloaded a new ROM file and it's been working fine. Getting ready for the opera now! But thank you for being willing to test it and all! =D

Hey all! Updates haven't been as frequent as they were, but I've been quietly working on BC in the background. Version 54, released today, has a lot of minor adjustments based on user feedback. Here's a summarized changelog:
Quote:working decompression and recompression module has been added
randomized the opening sequence
make ending credits shorter, so that the music syncs up like in the japanese version
add bingo card generator
much greater coverage of enemies, more rare encounters appear as MiaBs
tiers 1-3 of the final battle are less predictable
kefka's phase 1 AI has been shortened to make the battle more difficult
more custom items
more interesting berserkers
r-wild is now r-chaos, which will covers all 256 skills
almost guaranteed esper boost coverage
more possible names for characters
chests that are upgradeable are indicated in the guide
guide shows more detailed monster info
guide shows blitz inputs and ability-changing relic info
guide doesn't show info for abilities that cannot be obtained
interface advises the user to wait
misc bugfixes and balance tweaks
If you're a hacker yourself, you might notice that a couple of these features could be helpful to you! Thanks to NovaliaSpirit's bank 7E dump, I was finally able to write a decompression module and edit (i.e. randomize) the opening sequence. I took out the splash screen, randomized the palettes, and changed the opening credits to display information about the rom!

The other nice thing is the shortened ending credits, which I think should be in every hack. When FF6 was translated to English, the ending credits were made longer, so the music doesn't sync up with events like it's supposed to. I spent a lot of time looking and discovered where to shorten the credits; At C3/CF93, if you change the value from 0x08AC to something like 0x07C0, it should sync up pretty much perfectly. (As a side note, this subroutine handles the last credits scene where you see the airship from the back... by editing this subroutine, you can change the locations of the airship propellers, etc... maybe something I could randomize? j/k Laugh)

Now i'm curious...

What's bingo card generator?
With custom items you mean stuff like Demonica?

Now i wanna see that airship flying in the sky fragmented! Laugh

Any other discoveries with mode 7?

RE: Official FF6: Beyond Chaos thread (randomizer) - abyssonym - 05-01-2015

The bingo cards are like normal bingo cards, except they have the names of enemies, abilities, and items on them. When you defeat the enemy or acquire the item, you can mark that square, and if you get all in a line, it's a bingo! It's just a silly meta-game that people can play if they want.

Yeah, just like the Demonica. There's still only one per playthrough but it can be more different things now.

I didn't mess around with Bank EE at all, so I'm not sure where to decompress the data in the rom... but in the dump it looks like everything involving Doom Gaze is pretty well documented, so there might be something interesting that can be done with that.

RE: Official FF6: Beyond Chaos thread (randomizer) - Tenkarider - 05-01-2015

Bingo card meta-game?

What interface should it have?
I mean... thing like a file(generated from the program) with a table inside that you can take note on it? or just you with a piece of paper and a pen? Laugh
