That is an awsome addition. Even if you don't want a guide while playing, you can still go back afterwards and see all the stuff you missed out on.

Very nice work.

Very cool addition! I started over with this newest edition (53). Very fun randomizer, although I found Narshe Kefka twice inside a chest in the South Figaro (Rich Guy basement) and on Mt. Kolts. Only managed to beat him with combination of Relic Ring and Wall Ring (which I just happened to find immediately before the 1st encounter.)

I got an interesting "Monster-in-a-box" in Sabin's Cabin; it started the flashback cut-scene/battle where Terra is frying the Soldiers with Kefka looking on, cackling (the scene before Locke's entrance introduction into the game). Are there any other "event battles" that I could expect to see popping up?

That is very interesting indeed. I've never seen that happen... I actually put in a few safeguards to prevent event battles from being added to the random battle pools. But I guess the stars aligned and this one slipped through. It sounds like it was harmless though, so I'll just consider it a "happy accident".

Early MiaBs tend to be very redundant because one restriction is that the enemy inside must always drop an item, and there isn't a lot to choose from early on.

Hey, ccrunner... do you even remember what was wrote inside the guide generated for your seed, about that chest?

RE: Official FF6: Beyond Chaos thread (randomizer) - ccrunner - 03-18-2015

Sure do, got it right here:

SABIN'S HOUSE
Enemy 036: Soldier x3

RE: Official FF6: Beyond Chaos thread (randomizer) - Tenkarider - 03-18-2015

Hmm... it doesn't match with any 36 index of vanilla... so they're shuffled from the randomizer? on a side note it's masked from the innocent 3 x Soldier name.

RE: Official FF6: Beyond Chaos thread (randomizer) - abyssonym - 03-18-2015

36 is the ID of the chest, not the contents... it's the same in vanilla. You can use this ID to check whether another chest has the same ID, since if two chests have the same ID, you can only open one of them.

RE: Official FF6: Beyond Chaos thread (randomizer) - ccrunner - 03-18-2015

Wow, my answer was NOT even close to what you were looking for. That seemed way more helpful at the time of writing. Sorry, about that. Chest ID's and most things are beyond my scope of practice with ROM hacking.

RE: Official FF6: Beyond Chaos thread (randomizer) - Tenkarider - 03-18-2015

It's ok, i just thought it would have been insteresting if it would have been written something like:
enemy 036: (blank space instead of a name)
That would have made easier to detect weird battles.

RE: Official FF6: Beyond Chaos thread (randomizer) - abyssonym - 03-18-2015

I think that this encounter was able to get past the restrictions only because the enemies didn't have weird names. Wink
