I think that graphical tearing bug is also in vanilla, if we're thinking of the same one. I don't know what causes it. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the airship.

Restricting enemies to the final dungeon is difficult because the enemies will "bleed" into other areas when you randomize formations. It's strange that you met so many instant death enemies on Mt. Zozo, there's usually only 5-10 and most of them are either bosses or show up in high-level areas like Phoenix Cave or the final dungeon. You must just be really unlucky. Death isn't the worst thing an enemy can inflict with their special attack, though...

Bosses have a 1% chance of switching stats with other bosses, that must've happened to White Dragon...

Just bad randomization, nothing that have to be balanced... i believe it's much more terrible a monster that starts to throw like a crazy 2+ weapons to you each time they get their turn which deal a range of damage between 6000-9999 each weapon(happened to me, 2x as formation -> almost certain gameover unless you use some good strategy)

The reason why it's unblockable is because Special attack has not set the flag that miss the attack if immune to the status.

Huh? What's this story about dragons which swap among themselves?

The behaviour of the Tentacles is actually no different than in vanilla, in this case.

I see the graphical tearing in BNW as well, but I don't remember seeing it in vanilla.

Not sure of understanding what's this graphical tearing thing...?

I thought it wouldn't be fun to have the same two dragons in the Ancient Cave mode every time, so I randomized them. It seemed like a nice idea for the regular mode, too.

I'm sorry if I came across as annoying. Smile
Bad luck follows me around a lot.

As for worse than Death, I don't know what could be worse.
Goner is less annoying to deal with, and I've had enemies use that before. Smile
Okay, Yeah, being hit by throwing weapons for stupid levels of damage is far more annoying.

Good to know that I was just really unlucky.

It's not impossible to deal with, but no esper up to this point gives me Vanish. Tongue

Oh, good news, apparently, one of the enemies in Ozer's mansion has a ribbon to steal from.
I hope they show up on the Veldt, because only Relm's replacement has Steal. Smile Also, there doesn't seem to be any way to get ribbons from chests.

I've been playing Ancient Cave runs a bit.
Partyparty secret mode is a lot of fun.
I now have a powerful mage who looks like Kefka. Tongue
It's actually hilarious to play as Kefka.

And good to know about the dragons being randomized.
The White Dragon having like no magic power is hilarious though.

Also, Abyss, when I get to the point of fighting the final dungeon, which is randomized, is the one dragon that shows up there still there?

RE: Official FF6: Beyond Chaos thread (randomizer) - abyssonym - 07-01-2015

There's two dragons in the final dungeon. Don't worry, they'll both still be there.

Ah. Thank you.

RE: Official FF6: Beyond Chaos thread (randomizer) - Tenkarider - 07-02-2015

Something worse than death? perhaps Zombie...
I also must say that in my seed Final Kefka dealt with special attack Dance as status(didn't realized it immediately, Abyss said chances are extremely low)
I believe that was way more dangerous than death: just reviving myself cost me 1 turn, the only way to remove dance is killing him on my own and then revive him; i didn't do that, but if battle would lasted more time, then it would have been necessary: 4 guys in dance status means gameover.

I made a small update. It's mostly for feature requests over at romhacking.net, but I thought I'd post a notification here, too.
Quote: randomizer can automatically scan directory for valid roms
add save points to every rest stop (but this feature comes at a cost...)
ancient cave/speed cave modes no longer have tents or sleeping bags
ancient cave/speed cave modes now use dungeon-appropriate music
you can unequip your party at any rest stop
add proper challenge modes (natural magic, natural stats, llg)
some spells added to the Death spellset
better enemy name generation
umaro is now unequippable if the 'q' flag is set
Hopefully, people won't have as much trouble with file extensions now that the randomizer can search the directory for a valid rom file.
